Justice in Motion has a history of dance practice and performance as well as regular classes held around the city.
With Dancin’ Oxford we present a series of dance workshops over 10 hours in a multitude of styles to try from Bachata and Tap Dance to Bollywood and Contemporary. Taking place every hour on the hour, the last session is an opportunity to let yourself go in a freestyle DJ set where you can combine all the dance moves of the day.

This Deca’thon is a fundraiser for Justice in Motion so get involved in as many sessions as you can (clear your diary!).
Please give a donation on the door towards each session you attend. (suggested £5-10 per session), and get others to sponsor you dancing for as many hours as you can.

We move, to move you… so let’s get moving!

Donate on the door, no pre-booking.

No experience required. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

This event is programmed as part of the 10 Years in Motion – Exhibition

16:00 – Lindy Hop with Eleanor Stride and Al Marshall

Lindy Hop is a joyful and sociable partner dance with deep roots in the African American communities of New York in the first half of the 20th century. Lindy Hop spread across the world during the Swing Era of the 1930s and 40s and Lindy Hop is now a global phenomenon, with thriving swing schools teaching from Stockholm to Seoul (and Oxford, of course!).

Oxford Lindy Hoppers is a non-profit community-based swing dance group founded in 2008 with a mission to get the people of Oxford swing dancing as much as possible!

The class will be a super easy and fun introduction to lindy hop. We’ll cover the basic rhythms and teach a few simple moves. Lindy hop is partnered but no need to bring a partner unless you want to. We will switch around during the class.

No requirements, our motto is: if you can walk you can dance 😊

Eleanor and Al are scientists by day and swing dancers by night. They have both been dancing for over 15 years and teaching together for nearly 10.
