With over 30 years Events Management experience both as a creative producer and as a business events strategist, John’s journey has seen him organising a diverse mix of high profile as well as community based arts, sports and cultural events in Glasgow, Birmingham, Inner City London as well as smaller communities of Basingstoke, Farnham and Thatcham.
John is passionate about the role outdoor arts can play in engaging the community and was instrumental in Gunwharf Quays and Portsmouth developing a reputation as a destination for great outdoor arts from 2000 to 2012, working with Arts companies such as Walk the Plank, Emergency Exit Arts, Motionhouse, Kinetika, Same Sky, Wet Picnic and Chichester Festival Theatre.
Strategic arts and event projects involved developing business plans with Amion Consultancy for The Viking Triangle in Waterford, The Piece Hall in Halifax and levelling up strategies in Telford.
In his spare time, John is a fair weather kayaker, swimmer, cyclist and countryside walker, he also runs a monthly spoken word event, ‘The Front Room’ in Portsmouth, which provides a safe haven for poets and musicians to present both contentious and life affirming material.
