With over 15 years’ experience spanning charity management, science and innovation, and the built environment, Matt has always maintained a strong focus on social impact and purpose-driven enterprise. Now Head of Science and Technology at Oxford Innovation Space, he leads teams supporting innovation ecosystems across the UK and works with partners to grow centres that help start-ups thrive.
Matt began his career as a sound engineer and production manager and, while studying Biochemistry at the University of Bath, chaired the Backstage Technical Services Society. After several management roles in the charity sector, he completed an MBA and went on to deliver the £13.5m Stansfeld Park, Oxford project for The Oxford Trust — a major new science education and innovation centre in Oxford, following which he was appointed as Operations and Enterprise Director for the charity.
He continues to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, drawing on experience in commercial property, technology, and social enterprise. Outside work, Matt still enjoys the occasional live sound job, attending concerts, and hill walking with his wife – when his two small children allow him to!
