Gemma Peramiquel

Performer, Teacher

Gemma is a choreographer, performer and dance teacher, based in Oxford. She was awarded a grant to study Musical Theatre at The Urdang Academy in London and continued her education with a full grant, to study contemporary dance and pedagogy at The National School for Performing Arts in Copenhagen, where she also specialised in choreography. She took her internship in choreography at Bill Young Space in New York.

She was awarded for a residency at Cité International des Arts in collaboration with Marie de Paris to work on a community dance project about migration movement. This project travelled to Barcelona for a residency at Fàbrica de Creació Fabra I Coats, and performed at the Observatory for Anthropological Urban Conflict by the Autonoma University. To Kyiv at the Zelyonka Festival, she brought one of her pieces Sefurity Eggseat with Ukrainian dancers. In Barcelona she received the literature project “Dance me a book“ and she received the “Remou-te”award . She became a choreographer at the First European Dansathon organized by Foundation BNP Paribas, Sadler’s Wells London, Maison de la Danse Lyon and Théâtre de Liege.

Gemma has presented the project Botanic Dance at the Oxford Green Week funded by Oxford City Council and Oxford Dance Forum, and teaches at Dancemania Dance Company, MiniProfessionals and at Keen Oxford to develop a mix abilities performance group. She recently started teaching the group Silver Shakers and coordinated our in.motion dance classes for a while.

Gemma has danced in PLASMA, and is the lead choreographer for MOVING TOGETHER.
